Asisat Oshoala: A contender for FIFA’s Best Player Of Year ?

Since joining Barcelona Femeni from Dalian Quanjian in 2019 , Asisat Oshoala has been a household name in the Primera Iberdrola.

Oshoala who was primed to do great things after her excellent display at the 2014 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup didn’t rank among the best of the best in the world of football despite playing for Liverpool Ladies , Arsenal Women and Dalian Quanjian.
Most of Oshoala’s career successes came with the Super Falcons, where she won three CAF Footballer Of The Year awards (2014, 2016 & 2017) until tides changed in 2019 after she became a deadline day for Spanish Giants, FC Barcelona.

The 25 year old joined the team on a loan, and had a run of good games scoring 8 goals in 11 appearances during the second half of 2018/19 season, going on to win her fourth CAF African Women’s Player Of The Year award. The following season , Oshoala proved to everyone that her goalscoring run wasn’t a fluke as she netted 20 goals in 19 league matches on their way to the Primera Iberdrola title.

Will Asisat Oshoala become the first black woman to win the FIFA Best Player Of The Year ? Only time will tell
