  • Nigeria's Super Eagles were held to a goalless draw by Rwanda in 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, despite creating several scoring opportunities.
  • The draw leaves Nigeria atop Group D, but vulnerable to being overtaken by Libya, who face Benin later today.

The Nigerian national team, Super Eagles, played out a goalless draw against Rwanda in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday.

Despite dominating possession and creating several scoring opportunities, the Super Eagles were unable to find the back of the net, leaving them atop Group D but vulnerable to being overtaken by Libya.

The match saw Austin Eguavoen's side create numerous chances, with Ademola Lookman being denied by the crossbar and having a goal controversially disallowed.

Boniface also hit the crossbar, while Victor Osimhen was thwarted by Rwanda's goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari on multiple occasions.

Rwanda, however, were not without their chances, with Jojea Kwizera wasting a glorious opportunity to take the lead.

The draw leaves Nigeria still in control of their AFCON destiny, but they will need to regroup and refocus ahead of their next match against Libya.

The Super Eagles' inability to convert their chances will be a concern for Eguavoen, who made tactical changes in the second half to try and break the deadlock.

The introduction of Moses Simon and Osimhen added fresh impetus to the attack, but ultimately, it was Rwanda's resolute defense and Ntwari's heroics that denied Nigeria all three points.

With Libya facing Benin later today, Nigeria's position atop Group D is precarious. A comprehensive win for Libya could see them leapfrog the Super Eagles, adding pressure on Eguavoen's side ahead of their next match.
