Revelations Cup: Super Falcons fall to defeat against Colombia

  • The dethroned African champions put up a gallant fight, but it was not enough to yield a positive result on Saturday evening

The Super Falcons suffered a second consecutive defeat at the 2023 Women's Revelations Cup in Mexico following a narrow [1-0] defeat against Colombia.

Linda Caicedo scored an early goal for the Colombians inside the Leon Stadium, leaving the Nigerian ladies to chase the equalizer in vain for more than 85 minutes.

The Falcons had a few chances to get back into the encounter and possibly even win the match, but Toni Payne and captain, Rasheedat Ajibade both had their efforts saved by the goalkeeper.

The loss - Nigeria's seventh straight defeat in all competitions - leaves the Falcons as the only team at the Women's Revelations Cup without a point to show for their endeavours.

The Falcons no longer have a chance of winning the tournament but will play their final match against Costa Rica on Tuesday.

What did you think of the game ?
