Paul Onuachu grabs hattrick in Genk’s massive league win
In the Belgian Jupiler League, Genk thrashed KAS Eupen 5-0, with Super Eagles attacker Paul Onuachu scoring a hat-trick.
Genk needed to break their three-game losing streak to keep their prospects of making the Belgian league playoffs alive. And then there’s Eupen, who are 15th in the Jupiler League, they had a good chance.
Genk got rolling early in the game, taking the lead after only ten minutes, as Onuachu expertly converted the resulting penalty after Eupen committed a foul in the box.
The Smurfs kept up the pressure after scoring, and they were handed a penalty right before halftime. Onuachu was on hand to score from close range to give his team a two-goal lead.
Junya Ito and Bryan Heynen scored two additional goals for Genk within the first 25 minutes of the second half.
The final nail in the coffin for Eupen was scored by Onuachu, who scored his third goal of the game to give the Smurfs a 5-0 triumph.
With the win, Genk moves ahead of St. Truiden into eighth place, three points behind Charleroi, who had earlier lost.
Onuachu now has 21 goals in all competitions so far this 2021/2022 season.
