According to various reports in the English media, the English Premier League has barred former Chelsea winger, Victor Moses, from joining Burnley.

The Premier League has reportedly vetoed Burnley’s bid to save Moses from the agony of being stuck in limbo in Russia, according to Sky Sports.

Following the outbreak of conflict between the Russia and Ukraine, UEFA and FIFA confirmed that teams could register footballers from the Russian and Ukrainian leagues.

Foreign players with contracts in both countries were able to put their contracts on hold until June and play for another team.

Burnley wanted to add Moses to their roster to help them avoid relegation, but the Premier League refused to allow it because “it would compromise the competition’s sporting integrity.”

Following a successful loan term with Spartak Moscow in 2020-2021, the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner ended a nine-year affiliation with Chelsea last summer by signing a permanent agreement with the Russian Premier League team.

Moses, who won the Premier League with Chelsea in 2017, also played for Wigan Athletic, Liverpool, Stoke City, and West Ham United, scoring 20 goals in 220 appearances.
