Freddie Ladapo’s brace powers Rotherham United past Morecambe FC
The Millers won their sixth game in a row thanks to two goals from Freddie Ladapo in a dominant first half.
Ladapo scored from Ollie Rathbone’s cross in the fourth minute to give the Millers an early lead.
Ladapo almost doubled his goal five minutes later, before Shrimps striker Cole Stockton came close to equalizing.
On the half-hour mark, Ladapo got his second goal. He grabbed a through-ball from Dan Barlaser and beat Trevor Carson with an easy finish.
At the start of the second half, Stockton came close to halving the score twice.
Ladapo came agonizingly close to scoring a third goal as his low drive smacked against the post. Back came Morecambe, with Jonathan Obika forcing a good save from Josh Vickers, but the Millers’ back-line was holding firm.
Hakeem Odoffin came the closest for the Millers to getting a late third when he blasted into the side-netting, while Ryan Cooney of Morecambe hit the post.
