Moses Simon shines in FC Nantes’ famous win over PSG
Nantes scored a major victory in their bid for European football, and their Nigerian superstar was at the heart of it all.
They defeated star-studded Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 at the Stade de la Beaujoire, with Moses Simon assisting the first goal.
The Parisians were the favourites after a huge win against Real Madrid in the Champions League earlier in the week. PSG also had all of their typical protagonists on the field.
Nantes however dealt the champions an early blow when Moses Simon found Kolo Muani in the box. The French forward fired home calmly to put the hosts ahead after just four minutes.
Nantes extended their advantage as Quentin Merlin scored the Yellow Canaries’ second goal of the game in the 16th minute.
Despite having Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe on the field, the Parisians only managed five shots on goal in the first half. Goalkeeper, Alban Lafont was up to the task however, making crucial save after save.
PSG’s difficulties were compounded soon before halftime. Ludovic Blas scored Nantes’ third goal, giving them a comfortable advantage at the break.
PSG, started the second half like a house on fire, and Neymar pulled one back barely two minutes in.
Brazilian star, Neymar saw his spot kick saved by Lafont in the 60th minute denying him the chance to half the deficit.
On the night, Simon was outstanding for Nantes. He had a 74 percent pass accuracy and created four chances, including his assist.
With the win, Nantes climbs to 5th place in Ligue 1 They currently hold a Europa Conference League playoffs spot.
