Ademola Lookman shines in Leicester City’s defeat at Molineux

After losing 2-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium in the West Midlands on Sunday evening, Leicester City are without a Premier League win in 2022.

In the absence of injured Jamie Vardy, Wilfred Ndidi and Super Eagles prospect Ademola Lookman began for the Foxes, while Kelechi Iheanacho continues to play second fiddle to Patson Daka, with the number 14 starting on the bench.

The lively Lookman chipped into the net to cancel off Rben Neves’ opening in a tense first half that concluded with the two teams equal.

In the ninth minute, Neves gave Wolves the lead with a brilliant shot that beat goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. However, the Foxes responded and were rewarded when Youri Tielemans showed his class by threading Marc Albrighton through to set up Lookman for a deserved equaliser in the 41st minute.

Leicester City, who had made a strong start to the second half, fell down again, this time against the flow of play, when Daniel Podence drilled a goal into the bottom corner to make it 2-1.

In the 73rd minute, Ndidi and Daka were replaced by James Maddison and Kelechi Iheanacho in a double change.

Leicester City’s chances of claiming a point were running out, although Maddison came close to restoring parity on several occasions.
