Lampard’s first Premier League victory with Everton came thanks to his (Iwobi) monstrous performance, and his manager has taken a shine to him.

Everton manager, Frank Lampard lauded Alex Iwobi’s performance after his team’s 3-0 win over Leeds United, and he believes the Super Eagles player has a lot of potential but needs to work hard.

Iwobi made his first start for new manager Frank Lampard in last week’s 3-0 win over Leeds United. The Nigerian international put in a strong performance, guiding them to their first Premier League victory since December 6, 2021.

It was arguably also his best performance for Everton, as he has been below par since joining.

Nevertheless, Lampard believes that the 25-year-old has a lot of potential, and that all he needs to do now is put in the effort.

“He’s a quiet lad and a very talented player”, Lampard said ahead of their game against Southampton

“He feels it [confidence] from me, and the rest is up to him. He put it in and felt like he could run for another 90 minutes,” he added.

Everton meet Southampton at St. Mary’s on Saturday, and Iwobi will be hoping for another start with Demarai Gray still out injured.
