Chukwueze undergoes successful surgery on left leg
22-year old Villarreal and Super Eagles midfielder, Samuel Chukwueze has begun his road to recovery after undergoing a successful surgery on the quadriceps in his left leg.
The pacy right winger pulled up injured in the thirtieth minute of Villarreal’s Europa League semifinal against Arsenal at the start of May. He was forced to watch from the sidelines as his side defeated Manchester United last week in Gdansk, Poland to win their first ever European trophy.
“The Nigerian player put all his will to try to accelerate the recovery process as much as possible in order to be able to arrive in a position to be available for the final of that competition, held in Gdansk. A couple of days before the match against Manchester United, Chukwueze suffered in that area and the medical services of the club have considered that the best solution, for this, would be surgical intervention.” his club said via a statement.
Chukwueze has already withdrawn from Gernot Rohr’s Super Eagles squad to face the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in an international friendly in Austria on June 4th.
He will be hoping to return to full fitness and link up with the Super Eagles squad for the friendly against Mexico in July, as well as prepare for an exciting first season playing in the UEFA Champions League with the yellow submarines.
How would you rate Chukwueze’s 2020/2021 season ?
