Paul Onuachu

Weekend Review: Talking points on Super Eagles in Europe.

Another game week brought novel dimensions with regards to Nigerian Players. Paul Onuachu, being central, continued his goal-reverberating form as he walloped two past Cercle Brugge. Alex Iwobi’s Everton fell disappointingly to Leeds, while troubles hound up for Simeon Nwankwo’s Crotone as the fight against relegation beckons.

Onuachu continues to defy available excuses for absence in national team set up.

Before the eightieth minute against Cercle Brugge, Nigerian forward, Paul Onuachu had already inflicted the damage, a clinical one meticulously executed to catapult as high on top scorers rankings. Having netted a brace, Paul added yet, another statement about a necessary inclusion in the national set up. He has unfortunately been victimized by tactical excuses, perhaps as a result of an odd characteristics, which ironically should be an advantage. With 12 goals in 14 matches, it dawns that Paul might set a horizon for a tactical change that must compulsorily suit his style.

Zaidu Sanusi’s impressive performances enough to cement first team status.

Riding on a goal-scoring effort in the UEFA Champions League last week, Sanusi capped a personally successful week in style. He formed a solid partnership with Malang Sarr in the 1 nil weekend win and made three decisive clearances. it seems Zaidu wouldn’t let anything past him, not even a whiff of air.

Iwobi continues a search for tactical identity as distraught results drowns Crotone.

Iwobi’s Everton and Simeon Nwakwo’s Crotone saw respective regressions in results. Everton lost to Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds, further accentuating any attempt of providing a Leicester-esque model of winning the English Premier League title. Everton failed to replicate the brilliant performance against Fulham the last weekend as Iwobi played only 45 minutes. Meanwhile, Crotone continue to struggle in the Italian Serie A, as they remain winless after 9 games.
