2020 has been a year filled with unpredictability and we have the latest twist in our footballing schedule.
The NFF have announced that the Super Eagles’ October 9th friendly scheduled to take place against Ivory Coast has been canceled. It is not all bad news though, as AFCON 2019 champions, and friendly foes, Algeria have accepted the NFF’s invitation to compete.
The Ivorian football federation cited ‘internal reasons’ for their decision to pull out of the friendly, as they would be unable to send a team to Austria.
The Super Eagles will now do battle with the Desert Foxes of Algeria on October 9, live from the Jacques Lemans Arena in Austria. It would be the fourth meeting between the two nations in the last three years, and the first since the AFCON 2019 semifinal when a 95th minute Riyad Mahrez free kick sent the Super Eagles packing.
