From the streets of Owerri to the Theatre of Dreams. September 10, 2016 was a day to remember for then 19-year old Kelechi Iheanacho.
The Super Eagles forward, in his second season at Manchester City was handed a surprise start in the Manchester derby by Pep Guardiola, and he grabbed his opportunity with both hands.
Iheanacho set up the opener in the 15th minute, knocking down a long ball for Kevin de Bruyne to run through on goal and slot past De Gea, before scoring into an empty net from a rebound in the 36th minute.

Manchester City went on to record a hard-fought [1-2] away victory over Jose Mourinho’s men, after Zlatan Ibrahimovic pulled one back in the 42nd minute of the game.
Kelechi Iheanacho now plays alongside Wilfred Ndidi for Leicester City. They kick off their 2020/2021 season on Sunday September 13 against Semi Ajayi and newly-promoted West Brom.
