Cyriel Dessers joins Belgian club, KRC Genk on 4-year deal

25-year old Super Eagles forward, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers has joined 2018/2019 Belgian First Division Champions, KRC Genk for a reported fee of four million Euros (€4,000,000).

The Netherlands-born goalscorer has signed a four-year deal with his dream club and now teams up with fellow Super Eagles striker, Paul Ebere Onuachu, as well as Nigeria U23 striker, Stephen Odey.

Interest in Cyriel Dessers was reported to be very high, after he finished as the highest goalscorer in the 2019/2020 Dutch Eredivisie season with 15 goals in 25 appearance for Heracles Almelo who finished 8th on the 18-team table.

He [Cyriel] earned his first call-up to the Super Eagles squad earlier, in February, shortly after he publicly declared his intentions to represent Nigeria at the international level, but unfortunately did not make his debut due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He expressed his delight on Instagram after completing the move to his ‘dream club’ on saying: “As a little boy you dream of great things. I dreamed of KRC Genk.”
