Super Falcons forward pair, Uchenna Kanu and Chinaza Uchendu have both joined Swedish Damallsvenskan side, Linkopings FC from Sevilla FC in Spain and SC Braga in Portugal respectively.
Uchenna, 22, and Chinaza, 22 both featured for Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France and will be teaming up with compatriot, Orji Ebere at the Swedish outfit.
Chinaza Uchendu recently won the 2018/2019 Liga BPI with Braga and the Portuguese Women’s Cup. She will be hoping for continued success on her new adventure.
Speaking to the club website about her move, Chinaza said:
Linköpings FC has always been a top team in OBOS Damallsvenskan.I like the Swedish league, it’s always good teams and players.I like Linköpings FC the way they wanna play.I think that fits me well and it’s good for my further development in my football and I definitely feel that this is the right step for me to take in my career.
Uchenna Kanu on the other hand, joins from Sevilla FC, where she made only 6 first-team appearances before the coronavirus pandemic, after joining the club on her first professional contract in January.
Speaking to the club website about her move, she said:
Linköping has a long history of success and I am looking for a chance to win trophies and make a name for myself at the pro level.It will be a good opportunity for me to grow as a player.I am excited for this next chapter of my life and I look forward to starting with the team.Thank you Linköping for seeing me worthy of being part of the team.Let’s accomplish great things together.
