Manchester United agree loan extension for Odion Ighalo

by Ayotunde Ogala (1 min read)

30-year old former Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo began to live his childhood dream after signing for Manchester United on deadline day in January 2020.

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Chinese Super League side, Shanghai Shenhua to retain the services of ‘goal-poacher’, Odion Ighalo until January 2021.

After making a wonderful start to his second spell in England, scoring 4 goals in 8 appearances, the coronavirus pandemic nearly cut his dream short as his loan contract was to expire on May 31, 2020.

The new loan agreement allows Ighalo to breathe a sigh of relief as his short-term future is now sorted out. He had been keen to complete the 2019/2020 English Premier League with Manchester United, which is set to resume on June 17.

Talks of a new contract with his [Ighalo] parent club will be put on hold until January.
