Super Eagles and Denizlispor midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi spoke with Eagles Tracker Live on Instagram to discuss a range of topics from his career so far and he revealed the goal that he holds dearest in his heart.
He said “The only goal that I scored in the Super Eagles is very precious to me because that is the only opportunity I had to score. Anytime I played in the national team, every coach wanted me to sit behind, just stay and don’t go anywhere because we already have offensive players who are there to do whatever they need to do. They always instruct me to stay strictly in defensive midfield so when we get hit on the break or counter-attack I would be able to stop it. It’s not like the goal is very fantastic, but I hold that goal very important to myself.”
Onazi’s only goal for the Super Eagles came in the 94th minute of a 3-1 win for Nigeria in an international friendly against Venezuela in November, 2012.
