Super Eagles Legend, Vincent Enyeama describes what it was like for him going up against Messi at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking on an Instagram Live interview with EaglesTracker, the former Hapoel Tel Aviv and LOSC Lille stopper reminisced on his outstanding performance vs Lionel Messi and Argentina at the 2010 World Cup.
On his preparation for the game, he said: “I had studied Messi the night before (with Chidi Odiah) so everything he did that day, I was prepared for it. I already knew what he was going to do.”
Asked about whether he was shocked by the intensity of the game, he responded:
“I didn’t expect them to have that many opportunities to score against us, but I had watched about 15 of Messi’s previous league games so I knew what he was capable of in all situations.”
Vincent Enyeama was the Man of the Match as the Super Eagles of Nigeria were defeated 1-0 by Argentina in the group stage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
