20-year old Villarreal and Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze has revealed an interesting story from the start of his professional career.
Speaking on an Instagram Live session with popular Nigerian comedian, FunnyBone, he said that the Spanish Embassy denied him a visa twice as he tried to complete a move from his club in Nigeria, Diamond Academy, to Villarreal.
Chukwueze explained how he had completed a successful outing with the Nigeria U17 side at the 2015 World Cup but was still having issues securing a move abroad. He had traveled to Austria, England & Portugal to no avail, before Villarreal came calling.
He said: “My agent was trying to look for another club for me until Villarreal came for me, then I went to get the visa and they denied me the visa two times. The last time, they gave me. So I went to Villarreal.”
Samuel Chukwueze joined Spanish La Liga club, Villarreal in August 2017 and has scored 16 goals and contributed 9 assists in 88 appearances with the Yellow Submarines.
Villarreal currently sit 8th on the La Liga table with 11 games to play in the 2019/2020 season.
