The position I’m playing now, it pains me – Kelechi Iheanacho

Super Eagles and Leicester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho discusses his favourite position on the field.

23-year old forward, Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed his apparent unhappiness at the position in which he is currently being played in at Leicester City.

Speaking with popular Nigerian comedian, FunnyBone, on an Instagram Live session, he revealed that although he enjoys creating chances for others, his main satisfaction comes from putting the ball into the back of the net.

Faced with a question from FunnyBone about where he functions best on the field, given that he has played successfully in several forward positions in his short career, Kelechi said:

“It’s not about where I function better because in modern football, football has changed. The position that I am playing now, let me not lie to you, it pains me.. it pains me. You know what one goal means, if you score one goal, you know what that one means. Playing no. 10 is good because you pass the ball and create chances….whenever I play no. 10, i enjoy it .

I watch Vardy everytime, if he enters the field, what he’s targeting is a goal, so when I enter, I’m targeting the same thing. Put one ball in the net and the rest is history.”

Iheanacho has scored eight goals and assisted four others in all competitions (18 appearances) so far for Leicester City this season.
