In a surprising development in the ongoing NFF-Gernot Rohr saga, the President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick has seemingly handed down an ultimatum to Head Coach, German, Gernot Rohr, who has less than three months left on his current contract.
The two parties have been unable to agree on renewed terms for months, and Pinnick has seemingly made public the reasons why.
Speaking in an interview with Arise TV on Monday morning, he said “We have told him. He must live in Nigeria. His salary will be in Naira. He must go around the leagues and see how he can nurture the players. If he is able to accept it, we have a deal. There are a lot of coaches that want to coach Nigeria”
The German tactician took the Super Eagles to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia before leading the nation to a Bronze medal at AFCON 2019, and it remains unclear whether or not he will agree to the terms stipulated by the NFF.
According to journalist, Osasu Obayiuwana, via his verified twitter handle, an NFF official has privately called out the actions of their President, saying, “I don’t know why he [Pinnick] needed to be saying all that.
He didn’t even need to say anything at a time like this. We’re in lockdown. What’s the crave for publicity about? I just tire.” We are all tired!”
Will Gernot Rohr continue as Super Eagles Head coach for much longer ? Leave your opinion below.
