Earlier this year, a group of FIFA inspectors had visited Nigeria, to take a look at the facilities available for use during the tournament and the Nigerian Sports ministry had high expectations for a successful bid.
Nigeria have been overlooked by FIFA as the country selected to host the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2020 with South American nations, Costa Rica and Panama preferred.
FIFA announced their decision today via a statement on their official website which reads:
“Following on from a FIFA inspection visit to Costa Rica and Panama as well as further discussions with the two relevant member associations, the Bureau of the FIFA Council has today confirmed that the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2020 will be played in August in Costa Rica and Panama.”
