Super Falcons forward, Uchenna Kanu has been honoured in the City of Lakeland with November 18, 2019 officially declared “Uchenna Kanu Day”, for her fantastic performances with SouthEastern University Athletics.
The Lakeland City government announced the honouur via their Instagram page with a statement that reads:

With her first goal against the University of South Carolina Beaufort Sand Sharks, the Southeastern University women’s soccer senior forward Uchenna Kanu has become college soccer’s all-time leading career goal scorer at a single institution, with 147 goals scored.
The previous record of 146 goals was held by Julia Schojan of Fisher College, set in 2017. Uchenna notched the 25th Hat Trick of her career with her three-goal effort against the Sand Sharks in the 8-0 SEU victory. Uchenna was also named the 2018 United Soccer Coaches NAIA Player of the Year, and was a First Team NAIA All-American last season. This past summer, Uchenna represented her home nation of Nigeria on the National Team at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Paris. Uchenna is a two-time Sun Conference Player of the Year, three-time First Team All-Conference placer, 2016 Sun Conference Newcomer of the Year, and 16-time conference offensive player of the week. Originally from Abia, Nigeria; Uchenna Kanu has called Lakeland her home for the last four years and will graduate from Southeastern University this semester with a Bachelor’s of Science in Sports Management. Upon graduation, she will seek to further her soccer career at the professional level, before returning to Nigeria to start her own entrepreneurial enterprise.
